A ballet production of the hauntingly tragic folklore of The Butterfly Lovers was beautifully weaved in a musical stage performance that took the audience back in time, to reminisce the glorious days of Cantopop, from our favourite Hong Kong series theme songs to award-winning hits from the late 1970s, 80s and 90s.
Presented by non-governmental organisation Perak Women for Women Society (PWW), the two-day charity concert was in conjunction with International Women’s Day, observed annually on 8th March.
The collaboration between the concert tour of A Walk Back In Time 懷舊金曲之旅 which brought in talented singers and musicians and featuring graceful ballerinas from City Ballet, was to raise funds for PWW’s long-term effort to assist and support women (and their children) who are victims of violence and discrimination, irrespective of race, religion or social background.
Since its establishment in 2003, PWW has also enhanced the lives of women and children in Perak through advocating mutual respect and gender equality in society.
On a yearly basis, PWW serves about 50 to 60 new ‘clients’ in addition to ‘clients’ that they are already assisting on an ongoing basis. PWW also offers temporary shelter for victims of abuse, violence and any other situations that warrant help. All services provided are free of charge. Therefore, services extended by PWW are purely dependent on public donations.
