2015 PSPA International Ensemble - Press Conference

PSPA International Ensemble - the resident musical ensemble from the Perak Society of Performing Arts (PSPA) - has been the icon of music-making in Asia since 2007.

Datin Rosalina at the Press Conference on Tuesday said Entering its 9th year, the PSPA International Ensemble continues to provide the highest artistic excellence to the local audience.

PSPA never fails to gather richly talented musicians around the globe and bring them to the beautiful towns in Malaysia, i.e. Ipoh, Penang and Kuala Lumpur to partake in a unique and sumptuous classical music rendezvous.

"When Datin asked me to lead this, I did not hesitate. With the support of the committee members, we planned early and took an unconventional path, hoping to bring this musical extravaganza to the public with a bang".. said Mr. Chai Jin Hann the Organising Chairman for the Ensemble this year.

What entices these exceptional artists is the wonderful arena of music discovery and an opportunity to achieve artistic and humanistic excellence. The ensemble brings about music of all eras by taking the audience to a diverse journey and make them realise the infinite expandability of classical music.

Eugene Pook, the Music Director for the PSPA International Ensemble spoke of not only the history of PSPA Ensemble as well as the musicians involved this year..

"From Bach to Yiruma!”, this year's ensemble will bring us music from Vivaldi’s all time favourite, The Four Seasons violin concerto; Bach’s famous Air on G String & Brandenburg Concerto; the exotic Bizet’s Carmen Fantasy to even the heart-warming Yiruma's River Flows Into You, and many more! We will also feature clarinet soloist, Mr. Andrew Simon, well-known for his flawless fingers-flying techniques and beautiful tone that will thrill us with an unforgettable musical journey!

The ensemble will also extend its mission on education and outreach programs benefiting the local community and younger generation, such as “Meet the Musicians” sessions and workshops in various schools and charitable organisations.
