Sharpened Word - November 2018

Ok, hibernation is over! The team is now awake to take up new challenges and tasks ahead, with more enthusiasm and in high spirits.

SW is traditionally a strong advocate for creativity and also a strong supporter of continuous education. Over the last three years, our talk series has touched on literature, art, drama, heritage, culture, movies and now we are going one step further by looking into community-related issues. So for the month of November, we will dwell on the topic of Social Business.

How many of us are aware that Ipoh has in the year 2016 declared itself as a Social Business City, which is also the first in ASEAN and second in Asia. So, do you know what is a Social Business and what significance is this declaration to all those residing in Kinta Valley? How is our life impacted or rather, have we indeed been affected by it?

SW will attempt to answer these questions in our Nov session. In fact, we want to do more. We aim to explore the topic of Social Business deeper and wider and has roped in various successful social entrepreneurs and organisations to share their experiences and challenges with us.

We are now proud to announce the following speakers for our Nov talk: Datuk Omar Adam Hon and Datin Zarina Ismail Tom @ Drop&Wash, KL; Christoper Tan @ MAD Bhutan Travel, Singapore; and Stanley JC Lim @ Persatuan DAYBREAK, Ipoh.

Please take note that the venue of the talk will be held at 1st Floor, 22 HALE STREET on 17th November 2018 (Saturday) from 2 to 5pm.

Entrance though is free and please do support us by way of donation if you believe and support our course. SW is a non-profit organisation and managed by volunteers.
