PSPA Singers Are Back!!
FANTASIA! Dreams and fantasy have always made up a major part of us during our 'young, innocent and carefree’ days, sometimes all the way to adulthood, even!
As part of PSPA’s mission “Encouraging Understanding and Awareness for the Arts in Perak”, PSPA Singers have all these years been a talent incubator where new talents are discovered and nurtured. With the objective to increase the awareness and to instil passion for performing arts in our younger generations, and to foster closer relationships through collaboration with the rest of the performing arts groups in the region; this year’s PSPA Singers along with six prominent musicians – three from Thailand, one from China, one Penangites and one from our very own city Ipoh, aim to provide the highest artistic excellence to the local audience. A journey through the ages in the world of music does not only stop at classics nor does it only visit contemporaries, the concert will belt out both well-known and lesser-known but artistically composed repertoires as well.
Just as our dreams and fantasies grow and change as we go through the stages of life, FANTASIA kicks off by visiting the classics. We will hear the operatic works of the world’s greatest classical composers such as Verdi’s famous La Traviata, Bizet’s exotic Carmen and Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman, in which the popular duet Bacarolle, along with art songs. As we journey along with the musicians, there will be selections from musicals such as Art Is Calling Me from the Enchantress, Sunday (Sunday in The Park with George) and Lily’s Eyes, from the lesser known but exquisite musical The Secret Garden, based on Burnett’s novel of the same title. And now, the big question – “What is fantasy about without songs from animations?” Hence, FANTASIA will end with a burst of Disney repertoire to which the audience are invited to sing along, to experience an unforgettable musical journey!
