PSPA Singers I Have A Dream Co-Organiser – Kinta Valley Symphonic Society (KVSS)

The Kinta Valley Symphonic Society (KVSS), an Ipoh based non-profit organization, was founded in January 2010 with the Siwu Education Trust. This grant enabled the Society to purchase instruments to start the Kinta Valley Wind Orchestra (KVWO). Members of both orchestras are made up of Malaysians from all walks of life, age groups and religions, under the helm of current Conductor Mr. Eric Lee.

KVSS missions are:

  1. Dedicated in providing an opportunity for life-long musical expression and enjoyment, promoting artistic enrichment in Kinta Valley and preserving the rich repertoire symphonic band music.

  2. Seeks to inspire individuals to continue their musical endeavors through the encouraging and intimate atmosphere of joint music making.

  3. Aims to provide quality and inspiring musical experiences for its members while educating and entertaining the Ipoh community and beyond.

Since its inception, the KVSS has put up annual grand concerts, charity concerts, and shopping complex concerts. Smaller ensembles have performed at outreach concerts, orphanages, senior homes, schools and centers for the disabled. Milestone performances include a concert tour in Taiwan, a concert at the KL Seni Festival with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, and the Mount Miriam Charity Cancer Hospital concert in Penang.

KVSS endeavors to provide the best musical offerings to all players. These members receive regular personal guidance from the conductors as well as professional musicians from local and aboard. Music camps and concert trips are regularly organized to benefit players. The KVSS is being supported by the Education and Outreach division of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), and Saint Mary’s University’s Music Department (U.S.A).
