Siddhartha: The Musical

FO GUANG SHAN Ipoh in cooperation with the Buddha’s Light International Association Ipoh Chapter will stage Siddhartha: The Musical （excerpt edition ）at the Main Ballroom of Ipoh Syeun Hotel on Nov 25, at 8 p.m.

Based on the book The Biography of the Sakyamuni Buddha by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Siddhartha The Musical retells the story of a timeless, prominent historic figure.

From its humble beginnings, Siddhartha has attracted artists and performers who have performed in the international stage. Siddhartha the Musical has so far performed 58 shows in the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan as well as in China.

One of the astonishing things about this is that most of the team – writers and performers – are Catholic Philippinos, who got together with their Chinese friends to produce the musical. Most of the songs have been based on Ven. Master Hsing Yun’s poetry. The songs, which are in English with Chinse subtitles. Guang Ming (Bright Light) University in the Philippines offers BA degree in Performaning Art, teaching media is in English. Fo Guang Shan is promoting humanitarian Buddhism and we have 5 universities around the glode: 2 in Taiwan, 1 in Australia, 1 in Phillipines and 1 in USA.

It is our great pleasure to invite these performers to be in Ipoh. On Nov 29th, they will perform in Singapore Opera House. On Dec 27th, they will present 2 performances at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.
